Kame knew that this was his chance to settle the love triangle.
“I told Pi that I don’t love him.” Kame said trying to judge Jin’s reaction.
“Pi knows that I will always love someone else.”At these words, Jin looked nervously towards Kame, but Kame continued.
“Don’t worry Jin. I know my love is only one way. I have accepted that. I just want everyone to be happy. I know you love Pi. Go to him. He needs you. He’s waiting for you.”
“Pi loves you Kame.” Jin answered slowly and softly.
“But he loves you Jin.” Kame answered. “He always has.”
Jin stared at Kame in silence. Kame desperately wanted to take Jin into his arms, but he reminded himself that he had made his decision on this matter.
“Go, Jin.” Kame whispered.
His emotions were getting the better of him.No! Kame told himself. You can’t cry now!This is for the best for everyone. You need to see it through to the end.
With more confidence he repeated, “Go to him, Jin.”
Jin continued to stare at Kame. Kame had to bite on his lip to hold back the tears that were about to flow.
“Jin, Pi’s waiting for you. Trust me.”
Kame placed a hand on Jin’s shoulder.Jin placed his own hand on Kame’s hand. This surprised Kame.
“Kame, we will always be friends, right?” Jin asked slowly.
“Of course we will always be friends!” Kame answered a little confused by Jin’s question.
“I’m glad.” Jin answered softly.
“Kame?”
“What?”
“Thank you.” Jin squeezed Kame’s hand and quickly stood up from the bench and ran off towards Pi’s apartment leaving Kame sitting on the bench.
Kame had just let go of his first love.
“It’s over.” Kame said to himself.Kame felt a single tear roll down his cheek, followed by another tear and then another. He wiped the tears away with the back of his hand and laughed. Why are you crying? This is what you wanted.
